Sarah Bracey White is a writer, teacher, and arts consultant. A graduate of Morgan State University and the University of Maryland, she was a 2010/2011 Inaugural Fellow at the Purchase College Writers Center. Her literary work includes Primary Lessons: A Memoir published by CavanKerry Press Ltd., The Wanderlust: A South Carolina Folk Tale, and Feelings Brought to Surface, a poetry collection. Her memoir piece, “Freedom Summer,” was included in the anthologies Children of the Dream, and Dreaming in Color, Living in Black and White. Her essays appear in Aunties: 35 Writers Celebrate Their Other Mothers, Gardening on a Deeper Level, and Heartscapes: True Stories of Remembered Loves. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Baltimore Afro American Newspaper, the Scarsdale Inquirer, and the Journal News. She and her husband live in Ossining, NY.
